About this artwork

The artist Samuel was walking along the promenade by an estuary. It was a hot summer day with a storm brewing over the ocean. The artist and his wife were on their way back to the resort for lunch. The way the warm paving stones contrasted with the cool high tide swirling into the estuary, divided by the swerving concrete sea wall, was so striking that it forced the artist to stop to take it all in. I used energetic brush strokes to capture the movement of the water and the heat radiating off t
