Artist Statement

As an abstract painter and proud Tennessean, my work is a fusion of neutral tones and influences from my extensive travels, captivated by the interplay of light, nature, and the evolving seasons. Nature plays a pivotal role in my art, with its colors, textures, and movements serving as constant inspirations. Drawing from my journeys across Europe, the UK, Africa, and Haiti, the warm hues of Tuscan autumns, the architectural textures of Rome, and the earthy tones of Central Africa continue to shape my creative process.

When I start a new painting, I select a color palette and mix my paints. I engage in playful experimentation, allowing the colors to interact organically. My palette finds inspiration in rocks, flowers, and various natural elements I've collected during my explorations. While I use a brush for the background, my primary tool is the palette knife. The rest of the process is about adding texture and movement to the painting. I want my art to move you, inspire you, and make you feel welcome.
