Naoko Tadotsu | Artist Profile Photo
Naoko Tadotsu
Fayetteville, Georgia
Brilliant prismatic trees radiate in artist Naoko Tadotsu’s expressionist compositions. “I am always in awe of nature, color, and light,” says Naoko. These three facets establish her vibrant works in fluid strokes of vivid hues. Roots of her influence trace back to growing up in Osaka, where these elements were abundant. Naoko migrated to New York where she was immersed and fell in love with the world of art. What was once unexpressed inspiration inevitably translated onto the canvas. Her work often crosses into abstraction, capturing her feelings towards nature and painting it as its own entity. “The trees, like people, show different faces,” adds Naoko. In the same way, her pieces elicit different perspectives from every viewer. All Naoko needs is a portable easel and classic rock music to work in her apartment studio. Apart from producing art, she relishes reading, watching movies, and walking. During her strolls, when something beautiful captivates her, she absorbs and processes it into new incandescent material.

Artist Statement

I am always in awe of colors and lights in nature, and I try to express that feeling. My roots of inspiration can be traced back to my upbringing in Osaka, where I was surrounded by the rich tapestry of colors and light in nature. Upon my move to New York, I found myself deeply immersed in the world of art, ultimately falling in love with its boundless possibilities. The unspoken inspiration I carried within me began to find its voice on the canvas. My art often ventures into abstraction as I strive to convey my profound connection with nature, painting it as a distinct and living entity. Just as the trees in the natural world reveal multiple facets, my pieces evoke diverse perspectives from every viewer. All I need is a portable easel and the timeless melodies of classic rock to set my creative spirit in motion. Beyond art, I enjoy reading, watching movies, and leisurely walks. During these strolls, I find myself captivated by the beauty surrounding me, and I absorb these moments to transform them into fresh, incandescent material for my work.
