About this artwork

This work is inspired by the Fauve master de Vlaminck, says Robert, with its heightened palette and energetic paint handling. The eye is directed to the spire in the center by the road into town, the trees on either side which frame the composition, and the cloudy sky above. Of note is the red underpainting which is visible and integral to the overall color feel, adds Robert. The sides of the gallery-wrapped canvas are painted brown, and it arrives wired and ready to hang.
