About this artwork
Artist Hope Rambo weaves a captivating visual narrative rooted in Eastern culture. I created this painting by overlaying three images together, shares Hope. A Chinese illustrated advertisement, a snapshot by Slim Aarons, and the cover of the 1931 Shanghai women's publication, Ling Long. Hope uses photo editing software to merge photographs. She gradually blends them into one multi-layered image and uses them as references for her work.
