About this artwork

This work attempts to capture that intense Spring sunshine as it floods the picture plane directly at the viewer. This creates very strong colors and contrasts which are on display here. Of special interest in this landscape is the sky, in which a pale cool wash was first applied, and then covered by large vertical strokes of intense yellow, which echo the brushwork found in the trees and shadows cast on the lawn. The sides are painted brown, and it comes ready to hang.
