About this artwork

A flat, snowy field surrounds a bright red schoolhouse and a barn. The pale winter sun casts soft shadows across the land while patches of dead grass emerge from the melting snow. A wheel-rutted drive winds into the center of the scene, with birch trees standing tall on either side, still clinging to their brown leaves.
