About this artwork
Two horses standing side by side under a hazy moon. Part of my Kintsugi Horse series, I've eggshells collaged over gold paint for the horses' bodies and thick, acrylic gel medium to sculpt the manes. Inspired by the Japanese artform of Kintsugi, the art of repairing fragmented pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. As a spiritual philosophy, it is believed that something becomes stronger and more beautiful because of its imperfections, not despite them.
