About this artwork
Built around 1960 on 18th Street in Bakersfield, the Greyhound bus station was a low, wide building with bright blue and white vertical signs. At night, it glowed warmly with caramel-colored walls, viridian shop windows, and touches of rose from cars and traffic signals. Long past its former glory when the source photo was taken, the property has since been torn down. Paintings like this serve as a tribute to places that no longer exist.
