About this artwork

Artist Jeff Fleming renders a kinetic impressionist portrait of a beagle triumphantly retrieving a stick thrown into the ocean. Jeff starts the piece with a pencil sketch and applies oil paint with a gloved hand using his fingers. Textural patterns take shape from the dynamic and brisk paintwork. He replicates a water-splashing technique through random but authoritative strokes, creating dimension to the crashing wave.
