About this artwork
Sometimes a painting reaches a point where you know that it communicates what you want it to say and that adding more detail wouldn't add anything....and could take away. I love this piece, and knew that when I stood gazing at it during one review, it was finished. The painting is based on a scene right down the road from where I live (as is so often the case). The afternoon sun seemed to cast a beautiful violet hue over the shadows on this particular day. Such a stunning view - I couldn't wait to paint it.
