About this artwork

In this painting, artist Mandy Main contrasts the iconic geometric shapes of mid-century architecture with the organic forms of the surrounding vegetation. Wide, shallow hard-edged concrete steps make a curving arc uphill through velvety green grass, leading to an aqua door matching the aqua sky which is also reflected in the adjacent window, describes Mandy. Aloes with red flowers front a glass partition and an intricate screen. Mandy is passionate about mid-century architecture and design, and in fact, she lives in a midcentury home.
