About this artwork

On a trip to Provence, artist Elizabeth Garat found herself lost and stumbled upon a picturesque moment in a village alley. The scene reminded her of Claude Monet's Village Street. Intrigued by the interplay of light and the curling arms of the lantern fixtures, she parked her car, made a quick thumbnail sketch, and took a few photos for reference. This painting is the result of that encounter.
