About this artwork

Rain glistens on the cobblestones, reflecting the light of lampposts and an approaching streetcar. The Skidmore Fountain, standing proudly since 1888, once quenched the thirst of working horses, dogs, and people alike. Though the sandstone and red brick building behind it has changed roles over the years, the fountain remains a timeless witness to Portland's evolving story.
