About this artwork

The figure with arms outstretched caressing her hair gazes out at the sea dotted with anchored rocks representing self care. I wanted to create a sensual femininity using a lighter palette and a flowing white dress. Exposing in parts the warm skin tones in her legs delivers the figure into the foreground creating an intimate experience. The overall design is light and airy. Thick paint surrounding ink black rock formations creates variating tonal and textural values, says Mary.
