About this artwork

This abandoned home was sitting up on a hill with a gloomy sky in the background. I thought the atmosphere was appropriate for the scene. I knew this home would not be around for very long so I stopped to make a quick sketch and take some photos. Soon after completing this painting, I drove by and the land had been sold. A few weeks ago I drove by again, and the only thing left was the chimney standing by itself along with the vine covered electrical pole. It was sad to see it gone. I'm sure some thought it was an eyesore, but I saw beauty in the home. Makes me wonder what stories it could tell.
