About this artwork

"This horse was just one in the midst of a crowd at the Santa Fe rodeo - a group that was waiting in the pens behind the action," shares artist Heather Foster. Heather starts her process with bold blocks of colors as an underpainting. "There is often a time when I consider stopping before adding more resolved and more natural colors. I intend to play more with this balance. This painting reflects a decision to leave the bold underpainting in the background as it seems to accentuate the summer heat in the high desert."
