About this artwork
Artist Hope Rambo offers a dreamlike scene of a woman striking a pose against a surreal mountain landscape. The painting uses Japanese text from a cigarette matchbox, deliberately left untranslated. I include the text in my work to remind the viewer that some aspects and mysteries of life remain incomprehensible or unsolvable, says Hope. She uses photo editing software to merge photographs. She gradually blends them into one multi-layered image and uses them as references for her work.
