Alana gracefully brings together a kaleidoscope of colors and patterns in this portrait of a peacock. The bird rests peacefully on an outstretched branch, a shoal of salmon approach from the left.Alana's Wallpaper series is a juxtaposition between masculine and feminine. I wanted to create a unique series that stands apart from traditional nature paintings, where the wild and somewhat prehistoric aspects of my animals contrast against their delicate backdrops, says Alana.Different techniques and layers of design were implemented to create the wallpaper effect. To keep the patterns consistent, Alana created a stencil to outline the shapes of the fish and flowers, and then she hand painted each shape individually. Her animals are always painted first, and then she lays out the design around them.
