About this artwork
A fall landscape at sunset, with golden clouds rushing across the expansive sky. Northern New Mexico is known for mythical light, sculptural land forms and dramatic skies, says artist Elizabeth Garat. What struck me about the setting of this painting was the vivid contrast of warm autumnal colors against the deep indigo blue in the shadows of the gorge and the band of sky beneath the clouds.
